El Paso, TX — Twelve home matches, including renewing the battle of I-10, contests against Northern Arizona, UNLV, Weber State and a 10-game Conference USA slate highlight the 2014 UTEP soccer schedule, which was released by head coach Kevin Cross Friday afternoon.
“We are very excited for the 2014 season,” Cross said. “We have a great non-conference schedule highlighted by seven home games. Conference USA play will be tough as always but the team is looking forward to the challenge and is having a great spring season in preparation.
“We are highly appreciative of the fan support we receive at University Field making it one of the toughest places to play in the state of Texas. UTEP Soccer is putting in the work now to make for an exciting 2014 season!"
The Miners, coming off a 12-6-3, 5-3-2 C-USA (3rd out of 16) mark during the 2013 season, return more than 15 letterwinners to the pitch this fall. UTEP will kick off the campaign at home by playing host to Texas State (Aug. 22), with the annual Alumni Association Tailgate taking place two hours before kick-off at 5 p.m.

The match-ups the weekend of Aug. 29 will be part of the Fifth-Annual Border Bash while the 15th-Annual Border Shootout is slated for the weekend of Sept. 19. UNLV was 10-8-3 last year while NAU compiled a mark of 11-5-3.
The Orange and Blue, who cruised to a mark of 6-2-1 on the road in 2013, will venture to Abilene Christian (Aug. 24), Utah Valley (Sept. 12) and Weber State (Sept. 14) during non-league play. WSU rolled to a record of 10-5-5 in 2013 and punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Conference USA action commences the final weekend of September, with UTEP traveling to Middle Tennessee (Sept. 26) and UAB (Sept. 28). The Miners will also venture to C-USA newcomer Western Kentucky (Oct. 10), Marshall (Oct. 12) and Old Dominion (Oct. 30).
The annual Rudy’s Country Store and BBQ Tailgate will be held prior to the Miners playing host to Rice (Oct. 5). The Orange and Blue will also take to the pitch in the Sun City in league play against North Texas (Oct. 3), UTSA (Oct. 19), FAU (Oct. 24), and FIU (Oct. 26).
