USA Women's Soccer Wins Olympic Group; Parker, Canada Also Advance

The USA qualified for the 2012 Olympic quarterfinal by virtue of a 3-0 victory against Colombia on Saturday, July 28, at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland. Also advancing to the Quarterfinals is Canada, along with former UTEP Miner Kelly Parker. Parker played the final two minutes as a substitute in a 2-2 draw with Sweden.

The USA squad is atop Group G with 9 points following the Colombia win and its Olympic-opening 4-2 victory against France on July 25.

The team wrapped up the Group G stage against Korea DPR with a 1-0 victory at the famed Old Trafford in Manchester, England, the home of the English Premier League’s Manchester United.
 

The U.S. won Group G, and now the team will face the third-place finisher of either Group E or Group F on Friday, Aug. 3, at St. James’ Park in Newcastle, England.
