The Eastwood Troopers, mired in mediocrity for years, had eyes on a playoff spot in 2013, only to falter to Franklin (55-31) and Montwood (21-0) in their last two games, finishing 6-4, 3-4.

This season, the Troopers firmly have eyes not just on a playoff berth, but a district title, and they think Eastwood can do it.

Senior OL Greg Long, "It does fuel me and it fuels my team, I mean we work every day to get better and better. Take a closer step to our real goals." Senior Linebacker Dominique Romero added, "We have a lot of strengths, and I don't think we have many weaknesses, we have a strong offense and a strong defense as well, so we are looking very good."

6:30pm, Eastwood opens the season Thursday, August 28 vs Chapin at Irvin Memorial Stadium.
