In the storied history of Coronado High School football, only three men can ever claim they were the head coach. The third begins his tenure this year and he is shaking things up as he goes. Bob Anderson was named head coach after Don Brooks called it a career last season after 35 years of leading the T-Birds. Anderson is already putting his stamp on the program switching the offense from a traditional run-first style, which Brooks ran for 35 years, to a spread offense and the team appears to have made a smooth transition.
"All around we're all trying to get it together. Trying to pull together as one team. I think we are really good," said Senior tackle Luis Saenz.
"The kids have been great. They've taken to the new system, the new program. We've made some changes and they've been really good. I'm really happy with the transition," said Anderson.
"We are definitely expecting more wins. That's for sure. A fun year. A fun football season," said Senior linebacker Santiago Valdez.
The fun begins this Friday as the T-birds head to the Pan-Handle to take on Midland High on the road.
