Thomas Relishes in European Basketball, Gives Advice to USA

Omar Thomas is a former UTEP standout on the basketball court, from 2001 to 2005. Thomas now thrives in Europe, earning MVP honors in Belgrade of the Serbian League. Thomas led his team to the playoffs, and after playing his entire career in the European Leagues from Italy to France to Serbia, he has some advice for Team USA, who is playing in the Olympics in London, England.

"They have played and been successful over there, you know, they are going to have problems in the half court game, as far as Spain, because they are bigger. You can play zone, so if the U.S. is hitting jump shots, I don't think they can be beat, but as far as size, I think Spain has 3-4 big guys, Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, and Serge Ibaka, so it will be tough, Spain is probably their toughest opponent."

The USA is 3-0, and so is Spain. Thomas will play in Serbia next season, hoping to build on his MVP performance.
