Thursday, July 15, 2010 - 10:51pm

The Houston Dynamo professional soccer team of Major League Soccer (MLS) will be opening a soccer academy in El Paso. It will be called the Dynamo Academy of El Paso. It will offer professional player development and scouting opportunities for the youth soccer players in the region, which will include El Paso, Las Cruces, Ciudad Juarez and the surrounding areas.

The Dynamo Academy of El Paso will be working with various local youth soccer organizations, including the Chamizal Youth Educational & Cultural Project, in promoting the game and offering the opportunity of their best players to be filtered through the Dynamo Academy structure. The Houston Dynamo Academy Director James Clarkson will be in El Paso for a press conference that will launch the El Paso academy.

The Chamizal Youth Educational and Cultural Project will be raising funds so as to provide those worthy soccer players an opportunity to attend the Academy without any charge to them. Also the Dynamo is extremely committed to youth development of young players, filtering those players thru their various academy program and finally to the first team. The El Paso Academy was created because the MLS team saw the potential of players in the El Paso area and as James Clarkson mentioned "El Paso is a hot bed of talent and fits perfectly into what the Dynamo is trying to achieve. We can offer any player in the area a path to the pros".
