Skelton Returns in Cardinals Loss

Sunday, October 14, 2012 - 10:26pm

Burges grad John Skelton saw his first action today since injuring his ankle in week 1. However Arizona lost in overtime as a result of a missed field goal at the end of regulation and an interception from Skelton in a 19-16 victory for the Bills.

The Cardinals quarterback came in late in the 4th quarter against Buffalo for an injured Kevin Kolb and led Arizona to a successful 61 yard, game-tying field goal attempt from A.J. Feely. Then set them up with a potential game winning 36 yarder that bounced off the left upright.

Tied at 16 in overtime, Skelton overthrew his receiver on Arizona's first possession and was intercepted by Jarius Byrd who returned it to the Cardinals 6. The result was a game winning field goal by Ryan Lindell.

Skelton was 2/10 for 45 yards and one interception. The Cardinals fall to 4-2. Kolb's status is currently unknown for next week.
