UTEP football set off from the Sun Bowl Tuesday morning for their annual trip for New Mexico Tech for an 8-day stay in Socorro, NM. For many players, it marks the official start of the season.
"Today is the beginning to it all for us. We reported on Sunday but today is the day everyone has anxiety for. We're headed up to Socorro and it's interesting how your feelings change about it. At first you're kind of scared and nervous and you hear bad things, good things. Now everyone is excited," said Junior Quarterback Carson Meger.
Senior defensive back DeShawn Grayson added, "you're going to enjoy the time with your teammates. We're a family. So you just enjoy the time one day at a time."
The Miners open the 2012 season with a home game against Oklahoma on September 1.
