The UTEP Miners could not keep up the defensive intensity they had last weekend at home against #4 Oklahoma, letting Mississippi rack up 538 total yards in a 28-10 UTEP loss.
Nick Lamaison was 21-33 at quarterback with 213 yards and one touchdown, a strike to Jordan Leslie, but it was not enough. Too many chances went by the way side in the red zone, including a turnover on downs and an interception by Carson Meger in the endzone. Ole Miss fumbled the ball three times, but UTEP could not capitalize.
UTEP running back Nathan Jeffrey did not play due to a sore groin. Jeffrey had 177 yards rushing last weekend in a 24-7 loss to Oklahoma in the Sun Bowl.
Mike Edwards had 88 yards on nine receptions, while freshman Autrey Golden led UTEP with 11 carries for 55 yards. Ole Miss was led by Bo Wallace who had 11 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown, and he was also 15-22 for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Jeff Scott ran 13 times for 113 yards for the Rebels.
