
The El Paso Harmony Science Academy's cinderella run to the 1A State Championship was halted in this morning's State Semifinals, falling to Dallas AAA Academy 90-50. Harmony opened the game on a 11-0 run, but from there, it was all Stallions from Dallas AAA, who ended the first quarter on a 19-6 run, and led 42-24 at halftime, holding the Tigers from Harmony to just 7 points in the second quarter.
Harmony ends their magical run 26-4 overall, while Dallas AAA Academy (27-5) advances to play Mumford Saturday for the 1A State Championship.
Harmony was led by freshman guard Bryan Urrutia's 16 points, but on 6-17 shooting. Harmony shot 20-58 from the field for 34.5%. Ivan Gutierrez chipped in 13 points, while 7-2 freshman center Alfredo Rodriguez had 6 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. Dallas AAA Academy forced 26 turnovers. The Stallions were led by Jeremiah Jefferson's 37 points. The Stallions attemped 88 shots in the game, making 35 for 39.8%.
