Jefferson High School has a wrestling stud, and her name is Yvonne Galindo. As the defending state champion at 138 pounds, Yvonne has a bullseye on her back, but with the help of her teammates, mainly the boys team, she has excelled this offseason in training to be back on the top.
"Just keep doing what you're doing, get stronger, increase weights. The guys don't go easy on me, they prepare you with all their strength, even though they know you are a girl, they don't take it easy.... Cause I know the target is on me, I have to keep that hunger, that drive, so I stay on top," said Galindo.
Galindo is 19-0 this season, and with the district championships two weeks ago, she says she can't wait for another shot at the title. Yvonne has some help, Jefferson will host the district championships on Saturday, February 2.
