Freshman Johnny 'Football' Wins Heisman Trophy

Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 11:15pm

A season of anticipation finally came to an end tonight in New York City as Johnny 'football' Manziel was named the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner. Manziel faced Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o and Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein as potential recipients of the coveted honor.

While Te'o has been a media frontrunner for the majority of the season, Johnny 'football' became the favorite after leading Texas A&M in an upset over top-ranked Alabama.

The 20-year old became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy in its 78 year history and the first Aggie since John David Crow in 1957.

As a dual threat quarterback, Manziel accounted for 43 touchdowns and 4,600 total offensive yards...breaking the yardage record held by 2010 award winner Cam Newton.

Texas A&M finished in the top ten after a 10-2 season, and will face Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl on January 4th.
