
Daniel Nelson had two extra base hits, helping the El Paso Diablos (40-40) to an 8-5 victory over the Wichita Wingnuts (47-36) on Wednesday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
He singled in the second and fourth innings, homered in the sixth inning, and doubled in the eighth inning.
The Wichita Wingnuts had no answer for Tim Adleman, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Adleman held the Wichita Wingnuts hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
The Wichita Wingnuts were led by David Peralta's hitting. Peralta went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.
The El Paso Diablos had no answer for James Hoyt, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Hoyt held the El Paso Diablos hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
David Casillas recorded his fifth win of the year for the El Paso Diablos. He allowed four runs over five innings. Casillas struck out four, walked four and gave up eight hits.
Josh Lowey (13-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.
The El Paso Diablos' Reid Fronk, Nelson and Fernando Valenzuela combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
