El Paso, TX (KDBC) — The Dallas Cowboys came back after their bye week and won a close one in New York against the Giants in a big divisional showdown Sunday.
With a two-point conversion in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Giants tied the game at 21.
The Cowboys came up with a drive and with four seconds left on the clock and Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey punched in a 35 yard field goal for the win, 24-21 Dallas.
"I thought Tony (Romo) did a really good job in this ball game. When you have opportunities to put the game away, it's a one score game, we can make it a two score game, and a couple different times we didn't do that. And I thought Tony and our whole group did a great job not getting frustrated, just kind of kept playing. Just kept playing the down, playing the series and keep playing the situation out," said Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett.
Tony Romo completed 23 of 38 passes for 250 yards with two touchdowns to tight end Jason Witten and one interception for Dallas.
"I think everybody understood how important this football game was for us for both teams. They had won four games in a row, put themselves back in position and having a home game they were in a pretty good position. You could tell by their words leading up to it that they were confident leading up to it and that's what makes the game great," said Romo.
For the Cowboys, the win moves them back into a tie atop the NFC East standings with Philadelphia at 6-5, who have a bye this week.
"It was an important game for us, it's the game we were playing this week and certainly any time you come up on the road against a division opponent and win a ball game it's a big win," said Garrett. "All three phases were involved in the win, none of the phases were perfect by any means. We're going to look at the tape quickly and turn around and get ready to play the Raiders on Thursday."
Dallas will have a short week of preparation before hosting Oakland on Thanksgiving.
