An Absolut Diamond is top qualifier for $252,659

An Absolut Diamond roared to an impressive trial win and set the top qualifying time for the $252,659 Shue Fly at Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino on Friday.

One of two impressive trial winners from trainer Mike Joiner, An Absolut Diamond put away a challenge from One Blazin Kimbo to win by a half-length and clocked the 400 yards in a rapid 19.003 seconds with a tail wind blowing. The son Ketel Won earned a 96 speed index. Joiner’s first winner on the day was Krazy Good who was timed in a good 19.062. Both trial winners were ridden by Salvador Martinez. The Joiner stable will be very tough in this season’s Shue Fly finale which will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013.

Defending champion KC Royal Flush meets arch rival Rollickin Red in a terrific Saturday feature – the $85,000 Challenger Six Handicap (5th race) at 870 yards. Both horses are multiple stakes winners are experts at the distance.

Call Me A Blazn Chic puts her glossy resume on the line in Sunday’s $85,000 Lou Wooten and Sydney Valentini Handicap (4th race) at 400 yards. Double stakes winner Back Seat Roll and Desertsmagic collide in the $85,000 Enchantress Stakes (10th race) at one mile.
