El Paso, TX (KDBC) — He may not have heard his named called in the 2014 NBA Draft but the dream is not over yet for former Miner John Bohannon. The ex-UTEP big man announced Sunday that the Dallas Mavericks extended an invitation to join their Summer League camp.
The invite does not guarantee the 6-foot-11 center a spot on the Summer League roster but does give him an opportunity to earn one. The Lancaster, Texas, native finished his final year at UTEP in 2014 with 1,204 points, 825 rebounds and 163 blocks. He is second in school history in blocks, second in field goal percentage (.569), fifth in rebounds and 17th in scoring and had 20 double-doubles, tied for the fifth-most in the UTEP record book.
The Mavericks open their Las Vegas Summer League on Friday against the New York Knicks.
