It was quickly apparent that El Paso City Council will not support the lawsuit known as City of Alpine v. Abbott, which calls for change in the "Texas Open Meetings Act." On Tuesday city council met in executive session to discuss the issue. Once council returned to regular session it took less than a minute to decide if El Paso will support the lawsuit which would allow elected officials to speak about public issues away from the public. Representative Susie Byrd quickly made a motion to delete the item from the agenda; not considering the lawsuit whatsoever. The motion went to a vote and council unanimously agreed.
