FABENS — Six children and their parents are without a home after a fire destroyed their Fabens mobile home Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 4:00 p.m. near South East River Street in Fabens.
Fire officials say the mom was cooking and stepped away from the kitchen to check on her kids.
When she returned, the kitchen was in flames. Luckily, no one was seriously injured in the fire, but the home was a complete loss.
The community is asking for assistance for the family of eight, and they will be collecting donations Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the Fabens Fire Station located at 219 West Main. Fire officials say that all donations including food, water, furniture, tools and everyday items are welcome.
Officials say the family of eight is in dire need of clothing, and all sizes are welcome, no item will be turned away. Furniture will be stored at the Fabens Fire Station until the family can find a new home.
