El Paso, TX (KDBC) — The largest and longest-running health fair in our region is taking place this weekend.
Every year the Lower Valley Health Fair in Socorro provides free information, services, and screenings to more than 4,000 attendees.
“This event targets all member of the family, and is very important for those who may be disadvantaged. This may be because of where they live and the limited access they may have to routine health care,” said Mario Hernandez, Health Department Training Specialist. “Many people don’t have time during the week or during the day to attend smaller health fairs so we are making it easier for them to access this important information.”
The City of El Paso-Department of Public Health will be providing HIV and Hepatitis C testing.
Other agencies will offer services that include: blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, hearing and vision, glaucoma, and EKG tests. In addition, free mammograms, colorectal screenings, and pap smears will be offered.
Pap smears will be offered to the first 100 women who sign up at the event.
The 32nd annual Lower Valley Health Fair will take place:
