Chaparral, NM (KDBC) — The Doña Ana County Sheriffs Office is asking the community's help locating a 25-year-old man who allegedly shot a man in Chaparral Wednesday evening after he refused to leave the victim's property.
The investigation revealed that Ramon Montoya, 25, who is also known as PeeWee, was trying to leave the home with the victim's girlfriends' 15-year-old daughter and her 13-year-old friend when the victim asked him to leave the property.
The victim and Montoya became involved in a fight and the victim tried to escort Montoya off of his property and close the gate behind him. That's when investigators say that Montoya allegedly shot the victim in the knee and fled the area.
Sheriff's deputies were unable to locate Montoya after an extensive search. They are now asking for the community's assistance in locating him. Montoya is wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office at (575) 525-8812.
