Sal Gomez filed an intention to circulate a petition to recall the eastside representative Emma Acosta after he said she ignored his petition to put an item before council that would "Fight Corruption at city Hall." He claims she also helped block a petition to put the city hall demolition decision on the ballot.
Acosta believes the petition is not about her, but about the county judge's primary race.
"I think my record speaks for itself. I don't know exactly. They're very vague in their petition, but I do believe it is politically motivated and I believe it's as a result of me not supporting their candidate,” said Acosta.
"We are not satisfied with her response. And this is one way that we can react and fight city hall," said Gomez.
Gomez needs 1,400 signatures to get the recall to a ballot. He has 60 days to gather those and present them to the city clerk's office.
