El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Corey Bernard Moss, 19, of Fort Bliss was arraigned in Judge Gonzalo Garcia's Court Thursday morning on the charge of Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony.
Court records indicate that Moss was indicted on January 22, 2014. In the indictment, Moss is accused of burglarizing Poole's home with the intent to commit felony aggravated assault.
Moss' attorney Gary Weiser told NewsChannel 9 that the felony charge carries the same potential sentence as an attempted capital murder charge.
Moss is accused of allegedly stabbing pregnant Army wife Rachel Poole in her home at 4949 Wichita on October 30, 2013.
Poole was allegedly stabbed on her face and body and sustained multiple fractures as a result of the attack on on her. Poole was nine months pregnant at the time of the attack and later delivered a healthy baby girl.
The original arrest affidavit indicated that Moss owed Poole money for car repairs, and he allegedly admitted to attacking her over a dispute regarding the payment of the money.
Moss pleaded not guilty to the felony charge and is expected to go to trial on September 5, 2014.
