El Paso, Texas (KDBC) — El Paso's Veterans Affairs Health Care system is among the worst in the country. That's according to a new report from the Office of the Inspector General, which reviewed 128 healthcare systems nationwide.
El Paso's system ranked 123rd out of 128 when it comes to primary patient care wait times, 118th in mental health wait times, and 94th in RN turnover.
Meanwhile, Congressman Beto O'Rourke sent us a statement today in response to the Inspector General's report. He said the report confirms what veterans have been telling him, that "despite the great staff at our local VA clinic, too many veterans are not getting the care that they have earned."
O'Rourke says he is holding local and national VA leadership accountable, as well as authoring legislation to provide more resources for veterans.
