El Paso, TX — Seniors Mark Jackson and Janice Jackson are named Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Co-Athletes of the Week.
Competing in the triple jump for the first time this season, Mark Jackson posted a personal best of 16.21m at the Cherry & Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The senior's mark garnered him the eighth-best jump in school history, and also currently ranks him first in Conference USA and third in the nation. This is Jackson's first Indoor Athlete of the Week honor.
Janice Jackson captured her third crown of the season at the New Mexico Cherry & Silver Invitational. The senior won the 60m dash with a time of 8.11 to beat second place by .19 seconds. She also posted the fastest time in the prelims with an 8.22 finish. Her time is the fastest in the program history, and currently ranks first in Conference USA and fourth in the nation. Jackson rounded out the meet by posting 24.53 in the 200m dash. This is Jackson's second consecutive and career Indoor Athlete of the Week honor.
The track and field team will have two weeks to prepare for the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas on February 8th.
