El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Country Club Road will be closed to all traffic between Doniphan Drive and Love Road beginning on Monday, November 18, 2013.
The complete closure is expected to last until March 2014. Residents of the closed portion of Country Club Road and Yucca Place will have access to their property at all times, as will police, fire, and other emergency services.
City staff will provide updated information on lane closures, detours, construction schedules, and project phasing at a community meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 5:30pm at Isaron Hall, located at 1071 Country Club Road.
This unanticipated complete closure of the roadway is necessary following the discovery of buried telephone lines and related infrastructure that were not previously identified by AT&T.
“Knowing what an inconvenience this will cause for residents of the Upper Valley, the City of El Paso is very disappointed that this complete closure will be necessary,” said Gilbert Andujo, P.E., division manager for the city’s Engineering and Construction Management Department.
Motorists who use Country Club Road are reminded to use the following detours routes rather than cutting through residential neighborhoods:
Eastbound thru-traffic detour: Take McNutt Road southbound to Sunland Park Drive eastbound to Doniphan Drive or Interstate 10.
Westbound thru-traffic detour: Take Interstate 10 or Doniphan Drive to Artcraft Road westbound to McNutt Road southbound.
Local traffic detour: Follow posted signage and instructions from construction crews.
The reconstruction of Country Club Road was designed to accommodate the replacement of aging water and wastewater lines.
Ground was broken on the $14 million project in August of 2013. The project is expected to be completed in February 2015.
