Veterans groups and Boys Scouts to participate in Friday's ceremony
Fort Bliss (U.S. Army) — Fort Bliss will hold their first-ever Flag Retirement and Retreat Ceremony Friday evening at the Old Fort Bliss Replica on West Fort Bliss. The flag retreat ceremony begins at 5 p.m., followed by the flag retirement ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
Colonel Brant Dayley, Fort Bliss Garrison Commander, will host the event.
The Paso Del Norte Post 58 of the American Legion, Venture Crew 2248, and Fort Bliss Boy Scout Troop 248 will properly retire an American flag and explain the history behind the military retreat ceremony and the folding of the American flag.
There will be a reception, music and campfire following the ceremony until 8:30 p.m.
Unserviceable flags can be dropped off at the Replica during regular hours of operation, or can be taken to the ceremony on the day of the event.
