LAS CRUCES, NM — The New Mexico State cross country team takes on rival UTEP, when it hosts the Kachina Classic on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 9 a.m., in Las Cruces at Centennial High School. Junior Diana Hawk looks to continue her strong season, as she’s finished first overall in three meets this year. On the men’s side, Nathan Starr continues to pace the Aggies and has finished first for the team in all three races this season.
The New Mexico State Equestrian team opens its 2013-14 season with a dual match-up against SMU on Thursday, Sept. 26, followed by the Willis Invitational, Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept 28, in Waco, Texas. The Aggies take on South Dakota State, Tennessee-Martin and host school Baylor in the two-day tournament.
The NM State football team welcomes the San Diego State Aztecs to Las Cruces, Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at Aggie Memorial Stadium. You can listen to all the action with the ‘Voice of the Aggies’ Jack Nixon and color analyst Preston Williams beginning at 5 p.m. on KGRT 104 FM. Also catch the action in Spanish with Bob Sherman and Sal Betancourt on Vista 98.7 FM. AggieVision will produce and distribute the game. The game will be televised live on Comcast New Mexico, CW-El Paso, Altitude, FS-Arizona Plus and KASY-Albuquerque. The game will be broadcast tape delayed on CSN-Houston (Sept. 29).
The New Mexico State men’s golf team heads north on I-25 this week to Albuquerque, N.M. for the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept 28. The tournament will be held at the 7,562-yard, par-72 UNM Championship Golf Course. The Aggies face Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, USC, TCU, UT Arlington, UTSA, Wichita State and Wyoming.
The New Mexico State women’s golf team is set for its second tournament of the year heading to the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational in Manhattan, Kan., Monday, Sept. 23 and Tuesday, Sept. 24. The tournament, hosted by Kansas State, is a three-round, two-day tournament that is being played on the par-72, 6,181-yard Colbert Hills course. The 15-team field includes the following teams: Arkansas State, Colorado State, Creighton, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, North Texas, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Redlands (Community College), Southern Illinois, Tulsa, Kansas City and Wichita State.
The Aggie soccer team returns to the road with games at Idaho, Friday, Sept. 27 at 5 p.m. in Moscow, Idaho, and at Seattle U, Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m. in Seattle Wash.
The New Mexico State women’s tennis team continues on the road with the San Diego State Invitational, Friday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 29, in San Diego, Calif.
The New Mexico State volleyball team takes on in-state rival New Mexico, Monday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Pan American Center before opening up the 2013 WAC season at Texas-Pan American at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28 in Edinburg, Texas. The match against the Lobos will air on TV as a part of the AggieVision Productions.
