Fort Bliss, TX (KDBC) — Fort Bliss officials and Team Bliss soldiers gave recognition to comrades that are listed as prisoners of war or who are missing in action, several family members of survivors and of those who died attended the ceremony to share their experiences.
"Everyone should know the history of their country; the travesties as wells as the wonderful things that are done and being a descendant we try to put the word out whenever possible" POW descendant Linda Anderson said.
"My dad did not come back he was killed a day before my birthday, my ninth birthday he went down on a prison ship” Col. (Ret.) Gerald Schurtz said.
This event also reminded the community that more than 83,300 Americans are still unaccounted for but not forgotten.
