What do furs and a guitar signed by Michael Jackson have in common? They're some of the things former Representative Jesse Jackson Junior bought illegally with campaign funds.
According to the U.S.Marshal Office, 13 items from Jackson's fraud conspiracy case will be auctioned off, beginning today (Tuesday), to pay his 750-thousand dollar judgment.
Jackson was sentenced to 30 months in prison. The memorabilia include a framed color photo of Bruce Lee signed by the actor, a variety of fur coats and a guitar signed by Eddie Van Halen and Michael Jackson.
Jackson's wife, Sandra Jackson, was sentenced to twelve months in prison for her role in the fraud case. She pleaded guilty in February to failing to report more than 500-thousands dollars in taxable income from 2006 through 2011.
In court last month: Jackson told the judge he expected to be able to repay the three-quarters of a million dollars before he reports to prison on November 1, 2013. As for the auction, it opens Tuesday and runs through September 26, 2013.
