Colorado Springs, CO — The UTEP men's golf team started its season on a high note Sunday, taking second place through 36 holes at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invite in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Miners shot rounds of 288 and 287 for a total of 575. Host Air Force leads the 16-team field (278-285-563) with one round remaining on Monday.
UTEP newcomer Frederik Dreier is in fourth place after carding a three-under-par 141 (72-69). He stands six strokes behind leader Kyle Westmoreland of Air Force (67-68-135).
The Miners' Jere Pelletier is tied for fifth place (73-69-142), Martin Simonsen is tied for 14th place (69-75-144), Jacob Loya is tied for 49th place (74-76-150) and Ian Patterson is tied for 56th place (77-74-151).
