EL PASO (KDBC) — It's time to kick off a new school year and a new football season at the University of Texas at El Paso. The Miner football team will take on the University of New Mexico Lobos at the Sun Bowl in their first game of the season.
UTEP’S annual Minerpalooza pep rally is expected to bring out orange and blue pride in thousands of fans.
It will be at a new location because of construction of the new Centennial Plaza in the middle of campus.
All fans and community members are invited to the free pep rally to kick off the football season.
It will feature the UTEP marching band, the Golddiggers dance team, cheerleaders and Paydirt Pete. New UTEP Football Head Coach Sean Kugler will be there to help kick off the new season. It will also include live entertainment on two stages, inflatable obstacle courses, a kid’s zone, a beverage garden, Pete's pavilion, food vendors and game booths.
Minerpalooza will be in the parking lot on Sun Bowl and Glory Road Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight.
UTEP leaders said it's expected to be bigger and better than last year.
