Austin, Texas (KDBC) — Texas high school students are doing much better on the ACT exams. New results released Wednesday show just 26 percent of all Texas test takers met all four ACT benchmarks in math, science, english and reading. That matches the national average.
Scores have risen slightly in Texas the last three years, with students this year averaging a composite score of 20.9 out of a possible 36. However, fewer students are taking the ACT's. Only 37 percent of graduating Texas students took the test last year.
