El Paso — The appeal process has begun.
UTEP signee Isaac Hamilton has formally asked the National Letter of Intent Organization to release him from his UTEP scholarship. The appeal states Hamilton wants to play close to his home in Los Angeles so he can be with his ailing grandmother.
Hamilton signed with the Miners but never enrolled in school. UTEP Coach Tim Floyd says UTEP has built its team and schedule around Hamilton and has no intention of releasing a player this close to the start of school and practice.
The appeal process is expected to take six to eight weeks.
