The Las Cruces Police Department is in the process of serving four warrants issued on criminal complaints relating to felony and misdemeanor charges by current and former city employees. The four individuals have been employed by the city’s Fleet Services Department.
Some of the charges include theft and forgery relating to city property. Two of the individuals being sought are currently employed by the city of Las Cruces. One had already been terminated and the second is on paid administrative leave.
The city of Las Cruces Police Department continues to investigate other charges that may result in further filings of complaints.
The city employees involved in the allegations concerning the criminal complaints will be immediately placed on administrative leave as the city pursues its termination process.
The city has placed enhanced security measures in its fleet area to help prevent further misconduct. City Manager Robert Garza says, “This conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by me.”
