El Paso, TX (KDBC) — The funeral arrangements have been finalized by the family of Frank Castillo, a 13-year Major League Baseball veteran and Eastwood High School graduate. Castillo was found dead Sunday at Bartlett Lake outside Phoenix, after he drowned while swimming.
On Monday, August 5 at 7:00pm, a rosary will be held at St. Raphael's Parish Church, 2301 Zanzibar Road. On Tuesday, August 6 at 10:30am, a mass will be held, also at St. Raphael's Parish Church.
Friends say Castillo was a poor swimmer and alcohol was not a factor in the drowning.
The Chicago Cubs drafted Castillo in 1987 out of Eastwood High School and he pitched 13 major league seasons for five teams. Castillo won a World Series ring with the Boston Red Sox in 2004.
He retired from baseball in 2007 and has served as a pitching instructor based out of Phoenix.
