LAS CRUCES, N.M. (LCPD) — A man suspected of a Wednesday morning bank robbery was located by Las Cruces Police officers within minutes of the initial call.
The suspect, whose identity is not being released at this time, was arrested at an apartment complex on Montana Avenue. Police have turned custody of the man over to the FBI who will lead the investigation.
At around 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, Las Cruces Police learned that a man committed a bank robbery at the First Light Federal Credit Union at 300 Foster Road. Witnesses said a black male with a bandana walked into the bank and demanded cash from a teller.
He left the credit union with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.
Several officers responded to the area and a description of the suspect was quickly disseminated to law enforcement personnel. The suspect was located within about 20 minutes at the nearby apartment complex.
The FBI will proceed with the investigation and handle any criminal charges associated with the bank robbery.
