The El Paso Human Society knows that Valentine's Day will be lonely for some in the borderland, but offers a solution. They say you can adopt a pet, to keep you company.
"Its quite a deal for $110 if you think about how much you have to spend on a girlfriend or boyfriend if you take them to dinner on valentines day," said Betty Hoover, directer of the Humane Society.
That $110 will get you a cat or dog with all age appropriate vaccines, rabies shots, spay or neuter and microchipping.
"And you want to know the best part of adopting a pet?" said Hoover. "They won't judge you; they don't talk back to you; they won't cheat on you; and they won't steal from you. What better selection could you want in a mate?"
Of course, a pet will also make a great gift for your significant other on Valentine's Day.
The Human Society id open 11 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. Its open 11 am to 5 pm on the weekends.
