El Paso, TX (KDBC) — Hundreds of local motorcyclists rode through the streets of El Paso Sunday as part of a benefit to honor a fellow rider.
It was the second annual "Red's Run" in memory of Bruce Engels who died in a motorcycle crash two and a half years ago.
The motorcycle run is named after Bruce's dog, Red, which had to be put down two months before Bruce died.
Organizers and family members said the proceeds will benefit the El Paso Humane Society, a cause event organizer and friend Ann Edwards said Bruce would be proud to support.
"In order to remember Bruce, we wanted to commemorate his life so I decided to have a motorcycle run, and Bruce was a big donator for the Humane Society so we decided to go ahead and benefit the Humane Society," said Edwards.
The expected turnout for Sunday's event was between 800 and 1,000 people. The goal was to raise $10,000.
