Los Angeles (CNN) — The fourth of July tends to be a busy travel holiday but, this year, Triple-A says fewer people are planning to head out of town.
The organization estimates nearly 41-million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home in the July 3rd to July 7th period.
That's down nearly 300,000 from last year.
Triple-A says the shorter holiday weekend this year could be to blame. Independence day falls on a Thursday this year, meaning a 4-day weekend, down from last year's 5 days.
