US ARMY (CNN) — The family of a US soldier captured by the taliban in 2009 has received fresh hope their son is still alive.
The father of 27-year-old Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl says they received a letter from Bowe through the Red Cross.
He says the letter was clearly "scripted and redacted" but that it left no doubt his son was alive as of two months ago.
Four videos of Bergdahl have been released since his capture, but his exact whereabouts remain unclear.
He is currently the only POW in the war in Afghanistan.
