El Paso, TX (KDBC) — In Northeast El Paso, the Roy P. Benavidez-Robert Patterson "All Airborne" Chapter honored local World War II veterans. The event took place on Thursday as community members, active military personnel, and veterans gathered to commemorate D-Day.
They also honored veterans who have passed with the "sounding of the taps." As well as the dozens of World War II veterans who attended the event.
"We try to commemorate them and let them know that we appreciate all they have done," Joe "China Boy" Lopez, the Chapter Chairman of the organization said.
"We're remembering our fallen comrades and then the other veterans that has participated in World War II. And also there's the part that World War II was the beginning of the end of our D-Day was the beginning of the end of World War II," Bob Chisolm, a World War II veteran told us.
The event takes place every year.
