WASHINGTON D.C. (CNN) — Nearly 115,000 federal workers will get a four-day weekend, but it's no reason to celebrate.
The employees have to take furlough days thanks to those forced spending cuts that kicked in March 1st.
The IRS, Department of Housing and Urban Development, EPA and White House budget office will all be closed, Friday.
The shut down is the first since 1996 when the entire federal government closed down for several weeks over congressional budget fights.
Taxpayers who want to check on their refunds should be prepared for delays.
IRS workers will be out of the office at least five days this summer
