Strelzin was best known as an announcer for UTEP football and basketball, and was also an announcer for Diablos baseball, the El Paso Buzzards and the El Paso Patriots soccer team.
It was his time announcing Diablos baseball games where he earned his nickname, "The Mouth."
John Teicher, know as the, "Voice of the Miners," remembers Strelzin fondly.
"Probably a guy that was ahead of is time. Paul was very very colorful at the motor, did a terrific job for UTEP, very, very popular guy at the home games creating interest for UTEP football and basketball," said Teicher.
Steve Haskins, son of Don Haskins, also has memories of Strelzin.
"He was loud and we liked it, we love it. I know my dad loved it. I think Paul Strelzin will always have a place in El Pasoans' hearts," Haskins said.
Strelzin also had a morning radio show on local radio station KROD-AM.
He was inducted into the El Paso Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.
