Thirty-six holes remain at the tournament in Texarkana, Ark. - 18 each on Monday and Tuesday.
SMU, ranked 20th in the country, leads the 12-team field (278), with UCF in second place (285) and Houston in third (286).
UTEP's Martin Simonsen is part of a four-way tie atop the individual leaderboard with a four-under-par 68, joining SMU's Mario Clemens and Bryan Dechambeau and Houston's Curtis Reed.
The Miners' Jere Pelletier is tied for 22nd place (73), Jerry Castrellon and Roberto Ruiz are tied for 28th place (74) and Devin Miertschin is tied for 47th place (77).
