EL PASO — A marine will spend the rest of his life in prison for murdering two Fort Bliss soldiers. After almost two hours deliberating, a jury decided Craig Graham will spend 99 years in prison.
The same jury convicted graham of capital murder charges on Friday.
On Monday morning, several witnesses took the stand, including Graham himself. He apologized to the victims’ families in the courtroom and said he prays for them every night.
Graham and a Fort Bliss soldier, Tyrone Head got into an argument over a woman outside Fussion Nightclub in central El Paso on January 15, 2012. Things escalated and Head allegedly fired 10 shots in the air. Graham shot back but instead hit two 21-year-old soldiers. Damien Bailey and Preston Brown were killed.
A few minutes after the punishment was announced, the victims’ families got to speak to Graham directly.
Bailey's father said, "You broke my tree."
Brown's mother said, "You took a big part of my family." She also said she hopes God puts forgiveness in her heart because right now she can't forgive Graham.
