The New Mexico State University track and field team will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational for this weekend.
This meet is the only outdoor track and field event in the state of New Mexico that the Aggies will be competing in.
At the 2013 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the Aggie 4x400m relay squad of juniors LaSasha Aldredge, Alishia Perkins, and Brianna Cromartie nd freshman Jenna Banegas ran a time of 3:43.25 to finish 18th overall and end up second all-time in the NM State record books. Their 4x400m relay is also second in the conference.
The Aggies are coming off the Bobcat Invitational where various Aggies have posted season-best results in various events. Freshman Cherish Morrison and sophomore Kendra walker posted season-best results in the 200m (24.57 and 24.78 respectively), narrowly missing a spot in the NM State record books, but placing ninth and 12th respectively in the conference. Freshman Kelsi Gonzales posted her best time of the season to-date in the 400m at the Bobcat Invitational with a time of 58.23. Junior Zoe Meade posted a time of 2:23.85 in the 800m at the Bobcat Invitational for her season-best mark. Senior Deseare Cota posted her season-best time of 15.13 in the 100m hurdles at the Bobcat Invitational, tying for 10th all-time for NM State. In the heptathlon, Cota tallied 4,791 points, which moves her up to fourth all-time in the NM State record books.
