Mother and son accused of killing man 36 years ago
EL PASO — The suspects involved in a 1977 cold case have been indicted.
Roger Garrett allegedly hit his step father Chester Garrett in the head with a baseball bat 36 years ago while the victim's wife, Lisbeth Garrett, stabbed him several times.
Both have now been indicted.
Chester Garrett was arrested in Knoxville, Tennessee, back in February.
A motive for the murder remains unclear. The case went cold for decades, until the victim's biological son came forward this year and told police that he had learned what happened.
