(CNN) — Supporters for and against marriage equality gathered outside of the U-S Supreme Court for the second day.
Today (Wednesday), justices will hear oral arguments challenging the Defense of Marriage Act.
The 1996 law defines marriage as between a man and a woman.
The session comes a day after the court heard arguments on California's Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriage.
A ruling on the cases is not expected for at least three months.
