Board of Trustees at the Canutillo Independent School District demoted several unnamed district employees, who were involved in a cheating scheme, at a special meeting tonight. The names of those employees were not released, but they will no longer be in administrative roles, and will be sent back to the classroom.
The decision stems from audit results that confirm cheating and grade manipulation at Canutillo High School between 2010 and 2012, during former principal Jim Fry's tenure.
Earlier at the meeting tonight, internal auditors presented their findings to Canutillo ISD Trustees. The audit results revealed foreign students were incorrectly placed in different grades so they wouldn't have to take the mandatory 10th grade TAKS test.
The investigation also concluded the cheating at Canutillo High School is not ongoing because districts leaders have already taken corrective action.
