AUSTIN, TEXAS — Texas Governor Rick Perry is demanding answers after several detained immigrants were released from custody because of federal budget cuts. Governor Perry sent a strongly worded letter to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton calling on the Obama Administration to provide law enforcement with more information about the release of those detainees. Perry says the release by ICE is unconscionable and jeopardizes the safety of 26 million Texans. He wants to know exactly how many detainees were released, where they were released, and why they were being detained.
